How Many Website Pages Does Your Small Business Need?

authorJoe Rohde May 5, 2026

A lot of small business owners ask me the same question. How many pages does my website actually need?

It sounds like a simple question. But the answer matters more than most people think. The number of pages on your site affects how easy it is for people to find you, how long they stick around, and whether or not they reach out.

So let's talk about it.

What a One-Page Website Is Good For

A one-page website does one thing well. It puts all your information in one place. Visitors scroll through everything without clicking anywhere else.

That sounds easy. And for some businesses, it works fine. Think of a musician promoting a single show. Or someone selling one specific product. Or a person just starting out who needs to get something online.

But here is the problem. One page means one chance to show up in Google. Search engines look at each page of your site separately. So if you only have one page, you only have one shot to rank for anything. That is a tough position for a local business trying to get found.

One-page sites also tend to feel crowded. You end up squeezing your services, your story, your contact info, and everything else onto a single scroll. Visitors get overwhelmed. Or they can't find the information they're looking for. They leave.

So while a one-page site is better than nothing, it often holds small businesses back.

Why Five Pages Is a Smart Starting Point

A five-page website gives your business room to breathe. It also gives Google more to work with.

Here is what a solid five-page website usually looks like. You start with a home page. That is your first impression. Then you add an about page so people can learn who you are and why they should trust you. Next comes a services page where you explain what you do. Add a contact page so people can reach you. And finally, a reviews or FAQ page rounds things out nicely.

Each one of those pages can show up in search results for different searches. That means more chances for potential customers to find you. More doors into your business.

A five-page site also helps visitors make a decision. Someone who lands on your home page might want to learn more before they call. They click over to your about page. They read about your services. They check your frequently asked questions. By the time they get to your contact page, they’re already building trust with you. That is a customer who is ready to buy.

This is why our Standard package starts with up to five pages. For most local businesses, that is a great place to start. It covers your bases without overcomplicating things.

When You Need More Than Five Pages

Now, five pages is a great foundation. But some businesses outgrow it quickly.

The biggest sign that you need more pages is when you offer more than one service. Say you are a plumber who does both residential repairs and commercial work. Those are two different audiences with two different problems. Putting them on the same page dilutes your message. But more importantly, it limits your ability to rank for each service separately in Google.

The same goes for location. If you serve multiple cities or towns, a page for each area can help you show up when someone searches for your service in their specific city.

A blog is another reason to expand. Blog posts help your site stay fresh. They answer the questions your customers are already typing into Google. Over time, they build your authority and bring in new visitors month after month.

If any of this sounds like your business, the Growth package gives you up to ten pages. And our Unlimited package goes even further for businesses that need a bigger footprint online.

The bottom line is this. Every page on your site is a new opportunity. But only if that page has real, useful information on it. Adding pages just to add pages will not help you. Adding the right pages will.
