A family-owned flight school right on the field at Boise Airport. We built them a website that turns "I've always wanted to fly" into a booked discovery flight, and it now sits at the top of Google Maps when Boise searches for a flight school.

A Hometown Flight School at Boise Airport
Ernie and Charon Sams took over a small flight school at Boise Airport in May 2020 and rebuilt it as Carmel Aviation. Ernie has been flying since high school and holds his A&P and IA, so every aircraft in the fleet is maintained in-house by the owner himself. Their chief flight instructor, Kyle, is an FAA Gold Seal CFI.
Carmel is a Part 61 school, which means training is one-on-one and built around a student's schedule, not a fixed classroom calendar. Students train at a real commercial airport with an active control tower, from a first discovery flight all the way to becoming an instructor.
The challenge: a big decision that starts with one flight
Learning to fly is a serious commitment of time and money, and almost nobody signs up for a full certificate on the first visit. They book one discovery flight, then decide. The site had to make that first flight easy to say yes to, show the whole path from private pilot to career, answer the cost question honestly, and still serve the current students and renters who use it to reach the online scheduler and the airport weather cam.
A 21-Page Website, Hand-Coded From Scratch
No WordPress, no page builder, no template. A homepage, a dedicated discovery flight page, six training program pages, a financing page, the rental fleet, the team, an FAQ and a blog, all written and built for Carmel.
Proof and a first step, on the first screen
The homepage says exactly what Carmel is, a flight school right at Boise Airport, and puts the school's own track record beside it: checkride passes, first solos and Gold Seal instructors. "Schedule A Discovery Flight" is the main button, and the phone number sits in the header on every page.
Built for the phone in a future pilot's hand
More than half of Carmel's visitors are on a phone. On mobile, the discovery flight button is on the first screen, and the discovery flight page tells them what they get, where it leaves from and what it costs before they scroll at all.
A page built to book the first flight
"You Could Be Flying Over Boise This Week." The discovery flight page answers every first-timer question up front: one hour, hands on the controls, from Boise Airport, $250, no experience needed. It ranks #2 on Google for "discovery flight" in Boise, and its form is where about half of Carmel's confirmed requests come from.
Answering the cost question head on
For most people, cost is what stands between them and a pilot certificate. The financing page explains Carmel's partnership with Stratus Financial in plain language and sends students straight to the application. Six program pages then lay out the path from private pilot to instrument, commercial, flight instructor and backcountry flying.
